The 2024 harvest is sold out. We hope to have the 2025 harvest available in late Spring 2025. Please leave your email address below to be notified when it's back in stock.
Hachiju Hachiya means “eighty-eight nights.” It refers to the eighty-eighth day after the first day of spring in the traditional Japanese calendar, which is said to be the best time to harvest tea. Shincha, which means “new tea,” is produced from the first harvest of Sencha tea plants in the spring, and is only available in very limited quantities. Shincha is mild, sweet, and vibrant—the perfect tea to celebrate spring.
Our 2024 Shincha was harvested in late April and early May—meaning there's only about a month from harvest to your cup! This year's harvest has strong umami notes and an overall mild, round flavor.
This loose leaf tea is packaged by hand in a resealable kraft bag. Our 2 oz. kraft bag makes 10 to 15 cups of tea. Our 4 oz. kraft bag makes 20 to 30 cups of tea.
