Category: Loose Leaf Tea
Genmaicha Matcha blends two traditional Japanese green teas together for a tasty "hybrid" cup of tea! Genmaicha, which features Sencha and Bancha mixed with toasted rice kernels, and Matcha, which is a powdered green tea, combine beautifully to create a rich, toasty, warming flavor that is slightly sweet and creamy. This bright green infusion is extremely high in antioxidants and low in caffeine.
This luxury loose leaf tea is carefully blended and packaged by hand in a reusable tin or a resealable kraft bag. Our 4 oz. tin or kraft bag makes approximately 40 cups of tea. Our 8 oz. kraft bag makes approximately 80 cups.
Organic green tea, organic toasted rice, organic matcha tea powder
Toasty and warming, with a creamy mouthfeel and sweet alfalfa, nutty, and oceanic notes.
Use 1 level teaspoon per 6 oz. water. Heat water until briskly steaming (not boiling). Steep for 2 minutes. For best taste, do not over steep.
We recommend preparing Genmaicha Matcha using a teapot, tea infuser, or tea filter. These brewing methods give the tea leaves enough room to expand as the tea steeps, resulting in a richer, more flavorful cup.
Green tea is low in caffeine.
Green tea boosts energy, enhances mood, and helps with focus.
Genmaicha Matcha is actually a blend of two different Japanese green teas: Genmaicha and Matcha powder. Genmaicha is made from a blend of Sencha, Bancha, and toasted rice kernels, and has a warm, grain-like, and slightly sweet flavor. Matcha, which is made from shade-grown, stone-ground green tea leaves, has a richer, more vegetal character, with notes of umami and a subtle sweetness. Together, they form an irresistible blend that’s popular with green tea lovers both in Japan and abroad.
Our Genmaicha Matcha is sourced from Shizuoka, Japan. This popular blend is similar in flavor to Genmaicha, but has an even more pronounced “green tea” flavor thanks to the presence of matcha powder in the blend. The matcha powder also lends a bright green color to both the dry tea leaves and the brewed liquor of this tea. While slightly higher in caffeine than regular Genmaicha, Genmaicha Matcha is still fairly low in caffeine overall. It’s a warming, satisfying tea that makes for a wonderful treat on a chilly day.
